For one magical evening, Saturday March 12, Auckland's museums and galleries will stay open till midnight, featuring special exhibitions, activities and performances.  White Night is a must-attend event for contemporary art-lovers and an exciting night out for the whole family.

With over 50 participating venues including the Auckland Art Gallery, the Auckland Central City Library, MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology), the Auckland Museum and the Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum.

Alongside public and private galleries this will be the biggest night out in Auckland's cultural calender - a perfect follow on from the day's Pasifika Festival at Western Springs. Free buses will connect key locations across the city.

There's also a spectacular array of Festival shows set to light up White Night too.

Festival Shows

From contemporary French dance to ancient Vietnamese water puppetry the Festival offers a spectacular range of shows that will light up White Night.

White Night: Auckland Central

The Festival Garden, Aotea Square is the hub of the night, with an easy walk taking you to major venues, outstanding exhibitions and unique events, including f amily fun, explosive performances and stimulating discussions  .

White Night: Parnell

Parnell's gallery district lights up with a programme of outdoor art events including street performances, installations and site-specific works.

White Night: Newmarket

Contemporary NZ Art, indigenous Australian art and frank discussion on the role of art in shaping NZ identity make Newmarket a highlight for White Night.

White Night: Karangahape Road (K'Rd)

One of the city's most diverse arts hubs, Karangahape Road offers a wealth of arts experiences as galleries are complimented by live music, performances, guided tours and unique films in cafes and on the street  .

White Night: Waiheke

Oneroa's arts community hosts a special evening of music, poetry, storytelling, exhibitions and Pasifika-inspired performances.

White Night: South

In unique South Auckland style outstanding exhibitions and collections of NZ and international art are complimented by carnival, korero and stunning outdoor projection.

White Night: West

Exhibiting gallery Unitec's Snowhite opens late.  MOTAT offers night time fun at their Victorian village and tram rides under the stars.

White Night: Ponsonby

Opera by starlight, master ceramics, new NZ art and the invitation to get involved make Ponsonby an essential destination on White Night.
