Periphery.
Starkwhite brings together three contemporary practitioners who
deal with movement, its potential, and its lack. Frankovich,
Kosloff and Proctor explore the relationship between the
performative body and artworks, using objects, film and the printed
image. Their multi-disciplinary works examine the play between
movement and the suspension of movement, between action and pause.
By referencing the controlled movements of such disciplines as
dance and gymnastics, the artists open a dialogue between art and
surrounding discourses.

Born in New Zealand, performance and installation artist
Frankovich lives in Berlin. She has a substantial
international career and was the recipient of the Creative New
Zealand Berlin Visual Artists Residency 2010/11. Kosloff
lives and works in Melbourne. Her practice incorporates a
wide range of mediums, from film and animations to drawing and
performance. London-based Proctor describes her practice as
staging performative moments with sculpture, film and
drawing. She has shown extensively in UK and Europe, and will
be showing in New Zealand for the first time at Starkwhite.
