White Night at Whitespace
Neal Palmer, originally from London, received a BA Hons of Fine
Art from Trent University, where his practice evolved from painting
to printmaking and then to sculptural installation. Upon moving to
New Zealand with his wife in the 1990s, he found inspiration in New
Zealand's natural treasures. Neal's vivid paintings present
enlarged details of nature and use visual language to evoke strong
emotional responses.
This exhibition is accompanied by Window Box Opera, a
performance of well known operatic pieces for White Night. The
singers work with existing indoor/outdoor environments and find
frames to place themselves within and perform from. Erika
Strata & Anthony Schneider are the principal singers performing
from Whitespace's balcony.
