White Night at TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre at the Pah Homestead
The Homestead projects imagery created by Tanya Ruka onto the
exterior wall of Pah Homestead. Ruka explores the concept of i nga
waa o mua, ideas of identity and entanglement and the bringing
together of different elements to create a whole. The work occupies
a liminal digital space - a continuum in a constant state of
flux.
Also on the night catch the Trust's current exhibitions
including:
Non-Representational Art from the Wallace Arts Trust
Collection: An inimitable survey of abstract art dating from
Philip Trusttum's 1968 The Drum (No.5) to recent work by
artists including Nicola Donald and Lianne Edwards.
Highlights include a beautiful loose hanging canvas work in violet
by the late Don Peebles, reminiscent of a living breathing being;
Allen Maddox's 1978 work I Am Not Even Enjoying Doing It;
Michael Parekowhai's marquette for Te Tuhi's Atarangi II;
and a superb example from Milan Mrkusich's Elements
series.
Recent Acquisitions: Part II is a display of the
Trust's most recent acquisitions including a new work by Steve Carr
of catching mitts carved from wood; ceramic popcorn candy by
Madeline Child; Brit Bunkley's gnomes encased in resin, and a
