White Night at The Poi Room
Painting about Māori/European contact can be a fine line to
tread and Lester Hall has been walking the line for two decades.
His very popular new Ngati Pākehā series of prints runs the gammit
of cute to dark and asks the many questions most of us have been
shy to utter. Can this Pākehā artist sit with his paintings and
talk to one of the countries firebrands of Māori rights and keep
his head above water?
This is two 30 minute chats with a special guest about what it
is to be Māori and what it is to be Pākehā. Hall's artwork will be
used as stimulus for the subject matter. Audiences are invited to
ask questions.
