A Symphonic Odyssey

New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, NZ

Sorry this event has been and gone

An exhilarating and inspiring concert taking its cue from Stanley Kubrick's magisterial 1968 movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. In this Festival show, the Symphony Orchestra launches into a programme of orchestral greats and modern masterpieces of beauty and vibrancy.

In this special Festival concert, NZSO's Music Director Emeritus James Judd unleashes his creative energy on a selection of work that restores the true meaning of the word awesome.

Taking its cue from Stanley Kubrick's magisterial 1968 movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, the Symphony Orchestra launches into a programme of orchestral greats and modern masterpieces of beauty and vibrancy.

The virtuosic vocal ensemble, V8, joins the orchestra to bring the concert to a stunning finale. Layered with V8's superbly-crafted vocal pyrotechnics, the Orchestra will take audiences on a musical joyride through three masterpieces featured in the soundtrack of 2001 and Berio's Sinfonia, the musician's tribute to Samuel Beckett and other great literary masters.
