White Night at Ironbank

Meet at Ironbank 6:30pm - 7:30pm.
Bookings: planning@kroad.com • 09 377 5086

A guided walk for 10 - 15 year olds (accompanied by an adult).Experience and explore the rich aural mosaic of city life. Bring good walking shoes.

THE CITY AS SOUND project is an intriguing guided walk designed to introduce young people to the city through its sound. During the walk participants investigate the idea that the world is naturally musical, an infinitely complex orchestra of instruments constantly in the process of creating spontaneous compositions.

As the walk winds its way though various sonic enclaves and acoustic fields of the city, participants are given the opportunity to experience and explore the rich aural mosaic of city life, the way sounds relate to each other and to the spaces they inhabit.

CONTEMPORARY GALLERY TOUR

Meet at Ironbank 8:00pm - 10:00pm.

Subversive, emerging and fine art as well as moving image can all be found along K' RD, "New Zealand's golden mile of contemporary art".  The precinct has 20 art spaces; public and private galleries; moving image venues; and artists collectives stretching from Symonds Street to Ponsonby Road. Works as diverse as urban street art to Walters' Prize winners showcase K' Rd as New Zealand's leading experimental and contemporary arts precinct. This is a taster tour of six of these galleries.
